Myth: If it's not attached to the house it's not assessed.
Truth: Our office assesses decks, patios etc the same whether
attached or not.
Myth: If the village doesn't require a permit then it's not
assessed.
Truth: Whether or not a permit is required, our office assesses
improvements made to a property.
Myth: Whatever the sale price is, that's what my assessed
value becomes.
Truth: Our office does not blindly assign assessed values
based solely on the sale price of the property.
Myth: The village, contractor, neighbor said this isn't assessed.
Truth: Our office, not the village of... or city of..., determines
what will and will not be assessed. Please call our
office if you have any questions.
