It is the responsibility of the assessor to calculate a value for all real estate within
the township border. This value is called the assessed value of the property.
The assessed value assigned by the assessor's office should represent one third the
fair market value.
The following lists are provided as a general
reference and can not be used as a basis of
argument. The information is only stated so that residents can be
provided with a basic idea of what the assessor's office uses to

The assessor's office is free to use any one of four methods necessary to arrive at a fair
market value for any or all particular pieces of real estate.
In Grafton Township, the assessor's office does not assess the following as individual items.
However; any, all, or none of the following may be used in determining the overall value of
the real estate.
Driveways and Sidewalks
Driveway ribbons
Landscaping (Plantings, necessary retaining walls, flower beds, etc.)
Privacy Fences
Garden Sheds
Above ground hot tub
Above ground pools
Number of bedrooms
Total number of rooms
Interior Division of Space
In Grafton township the following are some of the main features used to arrive at an
assessed value:
